We enjoyed getting the team together at The Zone in Ashburn for an evening of Fun and Games. Catching up with our colleagues over food, beverages and arcade games was a great way to strengthen our alliance and take on the Blue Squad of 8 year olds in a Laser Tag battle for the ages! In the end, it pays to be a smaller and more agile target in a futuristic skirmish, but we all had a great time! If you'd like to join our team, search our Open Positions and apply today!
On Saturday, April 25, integrateIT volunteers helped a local home owner that needed basic home maintenance and repair as he had suffered from a disability. The team provided basic repair and renovation skills including light carpentry, painting, and yard cleanup. The home is located in Sterling, VA.
About Rebuilding Together / Christmas in April - rebuildingtogether.org
Rebuilding Together is the nation’s leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable home ownership and revitalize communities. Its network of more than 200 affiliates across the country provides free rehabilitation and critical repairs to the homes of low-income Americans. Loudoun County Christmas in April is the local Rebuilding Together affiliate, and makes free home repairs for low-income homeowners, especially the elderly and disabled. Volunteer teams, like the ones with which I have been involved, rehabilitate homes for low-income, elderly disabled homeowners, and families with children, who would otherwise be unable to make them (for financial and/or physical reasons) to continue living independently in warmth and safety and to age in place. All the work is done by volunteers at no cost to the homeowner.
The team recently enjoyed a fun night out at the ballpark to watch the Washington Nationals take on the Philadelphia Phillies along with great stadium food and drinks. This has become an annual tradition for our staff and friends, and this year we had fantastic weather as well.
Several integrateIT team members recently volunteered to help with operations for the 77th Congressional Baseball Game held on June 25th at Nationals Park. Our participants greeted guests as they entered the stadium, directed players to the field, helped distribute VIP parking passes, and even collected tickets to be recycled as the event was more highly attended than organizers expected! The team had a great time and enjoyed being a part of the event.
We had a great time at our employee happy hour at Top Golf, and are looking forward to our next company outing at Nationals Park next month!
Last night integrateIT staff and their families attended the annual Love Letters for Literacy event hosted by the Washington Literacy Center. There was an informative program detailing how the Center has succeeded this past year in improving the literacy of their adult students, helped them get better jobs, and be better able to pursue their dreams. There was also an auction of unique items and trips, the proceeds going to support the organization. WLC graduates shared their own stories of how their lives had changed since enrolling, which they proudly read from the podium!
It was a truly special event put on by gracious sponsors to raise money for this nonprofit that is so important to our communituy. integrateIT team members were recognized for their contributions supporting the staff throughout the past year, and the company was named a Champion for Literacy Award recipient.
Our President Geoff Keller has also shared his personal thoughts on the event on his blog.
We would like to thank the staff and sponsors of the event for having us, and we look forward to continuing opportunities to support WLC's mission!
